Middle school students participate in a full curriculum of classes including reading, math, social studies, science, art, and physical education. In addition, a daily study skills class gives students explicit and meaningful instruction on researching and writing term papers and studying for tests. A multi-sensory approach to learning is used in all classes and students learn through teacher modeling, hands-on experience, direct instruction and research. Technology is available in each classroom. Field trips, speakers, workshops, and assemblies support curriculum studies. Emphasis is also placed on building a sense of community, goal setting, and developing individual strengths and interests, all of which contribute to each student’s personal growth.
